Former Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini will not be a part of Frank Lampard’s Chelsea backroom staff, according to The Telegraph.
Cudicini was one of former head coach Maurizio Sarri’s assistants and he will remain at Stamford Bridge in a new role.
Unlike Gianfranco Zola, who was only on a one-year contract and opted to leave after Sarri left for Juventus, Cudicini is on a long-term staff contract and can be easily redeployed once a new role can be agreed.
Cudicini did not travel to Dublin with Lampard and his squad for the start of pre-season training.
So far, Lampard has confirmed four members of his backroom staff: Jody Morris, Chris Jones, Joe Edwards and Eddie Newton. According to The Telegraph, former Chelsea goalkeeper Hilario has been taking goalkeeping coaching in Dublin.
Lampard’s first match as Chelsea boss will be a friendly against Bohemians on Wednesday.
