Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been absent so far from pre-season training and is yet to play a game for the Blues this summer.
Kante was sent back to London from the pre-season tour of Japan after he suffered a recurrence of a knee problem he suffered at the end of last season.
The midfielder is currently in Cobham receiving treatment for the injury.
Kante flew out with Chelsea to Japan and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was confident the France international will feature in one of the games in Japan.
Kante suffered a setback and has failed to recover from the injury, causing him to return to London to boost his recovery process.
Lampard gave an update on Kante as he revealed that the World Cup winner is currently back in London on rehab.
Speaking after the game against Barcelona, Lampard said: “For someone in their rehab it’s much more beneficial to be at Cobham with the facilities we have there. It’s not a big backwards step we’ve taken. Hopefully when we get back and are training towards the weekend, he’ll be in a position to pretty much join in with us.
“It was just the best possible work for him to get his individual work so I’m hopeful he’s ready for the start of the season. Maybe a break for someone who has played so many games over the past few years at such a level, it may not be the worst.”
