Frank Lampard is one of the greatest players to have featured for Chelsea. The legend is Chelsea’s record scorer and won everything while playing for the Blues.

Lampard was known for his professionalism and dedication to the game and Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta believes that the Blues have the perfect role model to learn from.

“He was here for a very long and very successful period, and always set an example: how he wanted to break every record or improve himself in every session,” Azpilicueta said.

“We have to be grateful and feel the passion for the shirt. We are very excited and the only way we can carry it on is by winning together, getting the feeling back of being all together as a club.

“We have to take responsibility and know that there are a lot of things [going on] around us, but we have to work hard to get better.”

Azpilicueta spent two years with Lampard and was one of the younger players of the team while Lampard was in the twilight of his career.

Back in 2018, Azpilicueta hailed Lampard as one of the players who were his role models at Chelsea.

“When I came, I was lucky to have JT and Lamps and, even though they didn’t wear the armband, Ashley (Cole), Didier (Drogba), Petr (Cech),” he told the Daily Mirror in 2018.

“I always felt from their behaviour on the day-by-day basis you can tell they were helping you. Sometimes not even saying anything, but just with their eyes.

“They made me understand what it was to play for Chelsea, for the fans, the whole club, it is something that as soon as you come in you take it and you feel it.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
