According to Daily Express, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard held face-to-face talks with Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante over role in his team on Monday.
Kante was played out of position last season by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri to accommodate Jorginho, who followed him from Napoli.
Kante returned for preseason on Monday alongside Olivier Giroud, Andreas Christensen, Jorginho, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ross Barkley, Marcos Alonso, Mateo Kovacic, David Luiz, Emerson Palmieri, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Izzy Brown.
It is believed Lampard will play Kante in his natural holding midfield position.
Lampard revealed after his appointment as Chelsea boss that he knew what to do with Kante.
Lampard said: “Yes, I do know what I will be doing with N’Golo.
“I have said it before. Kante is one of the greatest midfield players in the world. In the last few years his performances have been outstanding.
“One of the pleasures of me getting this job is I am able to work with players of his quality, and my job is to find the best position to get the best out of him in the team.”
