Chelsea legend Ashley Cole is currently in Japan as part of his ambassadorial and commercial duties with the Blues.
The 38 year old has been studying for his coaching qualifications with the help of Chelsea at the club’s training ground in Surrey and reports had claimed he could join Lampard’s coaching staff.
Cole watched Chelsea train in Yokohama ahead of our friendly against Kawasaki Frontale on Friday but Frank Lampard has confirmed there is no immediate prospect of him joining the coaching staff.
“As it stands at the moment there will be no more additions,” said Lampard. “I’m very happy with what I’ve got.
“I want a group who all bring something to the table. I have my role as the manager. But I have complete faith in Jody, Joe, Chris and Eddie in their different roles.
“If, along the way, people come up, with a Chelsea connection or not, I will look at that. I like the Chelsea link but it’s not the be all and end all.
“At the moment we are working hard and we know where we are going. We believe in ourselves. You have to have a bit of ego in it. It’s a big job. It’s the Chelsea job.”
Jody Morris, Chris Jones, Joe Edwards, Eddie Newton and Hilario make up Lampard’s coaching staff.
