Chelsea’s pre-season preparations continued with a 4-3 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Sunday and it was our second win in a row, following the 2-1 win over Barcelona in Japan.
Chelsea have only lost one game in pre-season out of the five games played so far, which is the 1-0 defeat to Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale.
While it’s still just pre-season, Lampard has voiced his concern about the team’s defending. Chelsea have only kept one clean sheet in pre-season so far, which is the 4-0 win over Bohemians.
Lampard revealed after the 4-3 win over Reading, that his side must improve in defence before the start of the season, with United hosting Chelsea at Old Trafford on August 11th.
The Chelsea boss said: “The good from today is very good and we will keep trying to improve on that. Conceding three goals is not what we want so we can look at that and work on that for the next two weeks. Day by day we are working harder and it’s the way I want to train, the way I want to work, what I want to see on the pitch.
“The buy-in from the players has been really good. They are winners here and they have been winning in recent years while I’ve been away from the club.
“I’ve been delighted with the way the lads have trained and we need to keep working as hard as we can. We have two very tough games coming this week and then we have to get ready for Manchester United.”
