Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has taken over from Maurizio Sarri as head coach at Stamford Bridge.
The appointment of Lampard as head coach has been seen as a positive move for players like Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
During the World Cup last summer, Lampard highlighted one area that Loftus-Cheek must add to his game to become world-class.
Lampard said: “The next step for him is to make a drastic impact on this kind of game, and by that I mean getting goals, and making assists.
“For that to happen he needs a bit more ruthlessness, which is probably the final thing to add to his game – Ruben is a nice boy, but he has to be maybe not always quite so nice.”
Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek hopes to learn plenty from working under Lampard next season.
“I’m really looking forward to the new season with Frank as manager,” Loftus-Cheek said.
“I watched him a lot in my youth team days and now it’s a great opportunity for me to learn and grow under him. He obviously played in midfield like me and scored a lot of goals from that position, which is something I want to do as well.”
