Chelsea winger Willian suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Brazil in their 2-0 Copa America semifinal win over Argentina.
Even though Willian was on the bench for the final against Peru, he was unavailable for selection due to the injury.
Before his injury against Argentina, Willian had a big impact for his country as he scored in Brazil’s 5-0 group stage win over Peru and also converted his penalty in the shootout win over Paraguay.
Willian is expected to be out for three weeks following his injury while on international duty with Brazil. He will reportedly not travel with the team to Japan and instead stay behind at Cobham to recover. Willian’s injury has opened up a spot for Kasey Palmer for the tour to Japan.
Meanwhile, Willian believes Lampard is the ideal replacement for Maurizio Sarri.
“He is a legend,” Willian told football.london.
“He was an extraordinary player for the club, winning every possible title.
“He deserves so much respect and backing for what he has already achieved at the club. If Chelsea do bring him in, he will be very welcome.”
