Despite a 9th place finish in the Premier League last season, Leicester legend Gary Lineker has issued a warning to the top six sides in the Premier League that Leicester could break into the Premier League’s top six.
Leicester have strengthened their squad this summer by signing Ayoze Perez, James Justin and Youri Tielemans for a club record fee.
With Chelsea unable to make signings this summer due to the transfer ban and Arsenal being restricted in the transfer market with a tight budget, Lineker believes Leicester can gate-crash the Premier League’s top six this season if they keep Harry Maguire, who has been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City.
Lineker said: “If Leicester keep hold of Harry Maguire, fancy they might break into the top 6 next season. Wouldn’t be the miracle of 2016 but tasty nevertheless.”
Meanwhile, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes Chelsea still have a better squad than Arsenal despite Eden Hazard’s exit to Real Madrid.
Cascarino said: “A lot of people are saying that because they’ve lost Eden Hazard it’s a bleaker picture.
“At the end of the day they’ve got a squad full of internationals ranging all different ages.
“People are looking at it and saying maybe they won’t get that and they should sacrifice this season, but I don’t believe for one second Chelsea Football Club will do that.”
