Barcelona are currently in Japan where they will play Chelsea and Vissel Kobe in their pre-season fixtures over the next few days.
Chelsea and Barca will face each other on Tuesday at the Saitama Stadium. Barca travelled to Japan with a 26-man squad with a few of their players missing from the first team after their commitments with their national teams.
Lionel Messi and Arthur Melo are among the two players who are yet to join the Barca squad for pre-season due to their involvement with their national teams in pre-season. The Argentina captain led his team to a third place finish in the Copa America, while Arthur was a key part of the Brazil team that went on to win the tournament on their own soil.
Reports claim Messi is unhappy with the 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder Melo after his tendency to be involved in excessive night outings. Melo was extremely good in the first half of last season but dropped in quality during the second half and lost form and fitness to the extent where he could not even finish 90 minutes of a match.
According to Diario GOL, Melo is no longer in Messi’s good books.
Ahead of the game between Chelsea and Barcelona on Tuesday, the Spanish champions will be without Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Philippe Coutinho, Arthur and Arturo Vidal due to their involvement in the 2019 Copa America.
However, all their summer arrivals Neto, Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann will be available to play against Chelsea.
Below is the Barcelona squad to face Chelsea:
Goalkeepers: Ter Stegen, Neto, Iñaki Pena.
Defenders: Semedo, Pique, Todibo, Lenglet, Alba, Roberto, Umtiti, Araujo, Guillem.
Midfielders: Rakitic, Busquets, Rafinha, Alena, De Jong, O. Busquets, Monchu, Collado, Puig.
Forwards: Dembele, Malcom, Griezmann, Perez, Abe.
