Chelsea spent £58m for Christian Pulisic as the Blues signed the 20-year-old American from Borussia Dortmund. The young forward remained in Germany until the end of the season, and is now set for his first year in England and Chelsea FC.
A lot is expected from the American, and many believe that he has the potential to replace the departed Eden Hazard. Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has warned that the first target for Pulisic is to break into the Chelsea team on a consistent basis.
Speaking on ESPN FC, Nicol warned: “A success for him would be this season getting into the starting 11 consistently.
“That would be a success.
“To be looking for any more would just be unrealistic for him.”
Pulisic has joined his teammates in Japan having cut short his summer break, which only began after the USA’s Gold Cup campaign came to an end with defeat in the final to Mexico 10 days ago.
Chelsea will meet Kawasaki Frontale on Friday and Barcelona on Tuesday.
David Luiz who is among the senior players in the team has revealed that the players will try to help Pulisic settle quickly at the club.
“Pulisic is another top player, top talent, and young,” said the Brazilian.
“He just finished the last tournament very well, trying to do the best for the USA. For sure we’re going to wait for him here to help him develop as soon as possible.”
