Chelsea suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Kawasaki Frontale on Friday in Japan, with Leandro Damiao scoring late to give the Japanese champions a famous win over the Blues.
The friendly game took place in Yokohama, Japan, under really hot weather with high humidity.
Mason Mount started the game against Kawasaki Frontale and he has admitted the weather conditions in Yokohama were very tough.
Mount admitted it was very difficult fitness-wise to keep up with the Kawasaki Frontale players who are used to the weather conditions and also in the middle of their season.
However, Mount believes playing under such difficult weather conditions will help Chelsea back home in the Premier League.
Mason said: “It’s our third game of the pre-season, in a tough environment, against a tough team, who are in the middle of the season. Getting through the game, getting our fitness levels up – that was the most important thing.
“We are not used to this humidity, it was really tough. You make one run forward – and it’s hard to get your breath back. But when we get back home after this – it is going to be an advantage for us.”
