Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has returned to the club as Maurizio Sarri’s replacement.
Lampard, one of Chelsea’s greatest players ever, signed a three year deal with the club.
Announcing the deal, a statement from the club said: “Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce Frank Lampard as our new head coach.
“One of the greatest players in our history during his long and illustrious career, Lampard returns to Stamford Bridge having signed a three-year contract.”
Lampard learned from some of the best managers in the history of the sport during his trophy-laden 13 years at Chelsea and he’s the club’s record goalscorer with 211 goals.
Lampard has a fantastic relationship with Chelsea fans and was voted Player of the Year three times by Chelsea fans.
Lampard left Stamford Bridge in 2014 having won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Europa League and, of course, the Champions League.
He was runner-up in the FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2005, a feat that hasn’t been achieved by any Chelsea player before or since.
Welcome home, Super Frank. We hope to achieve even more success under your guidance.
