The announcement of Frank Lampard as the new Chelsea manager is almost here, as the Chelsea legend was spotted at the club earlier today.
Chelsea have agreed terms with the legend, and the Blues have also agreed terms with Derby County over a compensation fee, as Derby admitted they’ve granted Lampard permission to speak to Chelsea and also revealed that he has been excused from the team’s pre-season.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has reportedly signed a three-year deal to become the next Chelsea boss after Maurizio Sarri left the Blues for Juventus weeks after guiding the club to Europa League success and a third place finish in the Premier League.
Lampard will earn around £4 million yearly as Chelsea boss and will receive an additional £1 million if he achieves Champions League qualification.
Reports claim Lampard will be announced as Chelsea boss tonight or tomorrow as Derby are also close to appointing former Barcelona star Phillip Cocu as Lampard’s replacement.
Lampard is planning to bring a bulk of his backroom staff from Derby County to work with him at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard plans to make Jody Morris his assistant manager at Chelsea, as Morris was also his assistant at Derby County. Morris was a team-mate of Lampard’s during their playing days at Stamford Bridge, and the pair have a good relationship.
Everyone is excited about the appointment of Lampard despite his relative inexperience, as he’s only been a manager for just one season. But a number of Chelsea legends and past managers have backed the former Blue to excel at Stamford Bridge.
