Chelsea new boy Christian Pulisic has rejected suggestions he has been brought to Chelsea as a replacement for Eden Hazard.
Pulisic made his Chelsea debut in the 1-0 loss to Kawasaki Frontale on Friday, playing on the left wing just like Eden Hazard did during his time at Chelsea.
Pulisic insists he’s coming as his own player and not as Hazard’s replacement.
Pulisic told Sky Sports News: “I’m not here to compare or anything.
“Obviously Eden was amazing and he did so well for this club, as you could see last season and the whole time he’s been here. He was an incredible player.
“For me, it’s coming in as my own player, proving myself and doing the best I can to help this team.
“Right now it’s going in and helping the team whatever way I can. It’s just bringing an intensity into the training first of all and earning respect in the beginning.
“Then I want to make an impact as much as I can on the pitch.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed what he thinks of Pulisic’s performance against Kawasaki Frontale.
“Good, good,” Lampard told Chelsea TV when asked to assess Pulisic’s cameo.
“He’s only been here couple of days in terms of training with the rest of the squad.
“He impressed, he’s confident on the ball and I thought he could have had a penalty in the second half.
“He wants to take players on and he is a player the fans are going to like.
“He will adapt slowly but they way he has trained the last few days with his personality I am really pleased.”
