Chelsea youngster Conor Gallagher was one of the best players on the pitch in the game against Bohemians on Wednesday night.

The Chelsea Academy Player of the Year started in midfield alongside Danny Drinkwater and Kasey Palmer, as Lampard fielded a 4-3-3 formation.

Gallagher has revealed that he’s having a good time in his Chelsea career having been named Academy Player of the Year, and he’s also delighted to be part of the pre-season team and play under his idol Frank Lampard.

“It’s great working under the gaffer and I have to say that Frank was my idol growing up, so it’s fantastic to have him here as manager,” said the 19 year-old.

“I’m buzzing with how things are going and I can’t believe it really. Winning Academy Player of the Year was fantastic and then to travel with the squad to Baku was great.

“Being part of the squad out here is great and I’m really enjoying myself. I just want to keep working hard now.”

Gallagher had a good game in Dalymount Park on Wednesday night, and he’d be looking for more pre-season opportunities to impress the new manager. The youngster will be hoping for more game time in Saturday’s clash against St Patrick’s.

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
