Following the pre-season game against Bohemians, Frank Lampard has now decided to send 8 players back to London, reducing the number of players in our preseason training camp to 27.
Marc Guehi, Trevoh Chalobah, Dujon Sterling, Conor Gallagher, Lewis Baker, Lucas Piazon, Izzy Brown and Ike Ugbo have all returned home and won’t be involved in our remaining preseason games.
According to Sky Sports, the 8 players are set to go on loan, having spent some time with the first team on pre-season.
Most of them spent the previous season at other clubs, too. Only Gallagher and Guehi were part of the Blues’ side that reached the UEFA Youth League final.
Reports claim Chalobah has had loan offers from West Bromwich and Fulham.
Lampard gave the youngsters in the training camp a chance to prove themselves in the 1-1 draw against Bohemians on Wednesday night in Dublin.
The youngsters got 45 minutes each against Bohemians as Lampard played a different XI in each half.
Pulisic and Willian, who have both been away with their national teams, are expected to link up with the squad on the tour of Japan.
The Blues will fly back to London straight after the St Patrick’s clash and the players have Sunday and Monday morning off before travelling to Japan on Monday afternoon.
