Frank Lampard led Chelsea out for the first time in his career and the Blues pre-season as the Chelsea legend led his charges to play Ireland Premier Division side Bohemians at Dalymount Park Dublin.

Chelsea fans were full of praise for Lampard before the game against Bohemians and – a game the Blues drew 1-1.

Lampard is still cherished by the Chelsea fans after a very successful career that saw him play 648 games for the west Londoners, scoring 211 goals in the process.

Chelsea fans who made the trip across the Irish sea showered the new boss with affection as he walked across the pitch ahead of the game.

The former England captain was seen applauding the travelling supporters, who appeared to chant back to him.

A number of Chelsea fans were able to make it to Dalymount Park to support the new manager and the team, and the new Chelsea boss paid tribute to the supporters who came all the way to watch his first match in charge of the Blues.

“I’ve enjoyed it,” Lampard said of his debut in the dugout.

“We have great support over here and we’ve seen that at the hotel every day with the fans coming to see us. We’ve always had big support here so thanks to them for coming out to see us play.”

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
