Nike and Chelsea Football Club have today unveiled a new away kit for Chelsea ahead of 2019/20 season.

The new Chelsea away jersey is a beautiful one designed by Nike and inspired by the Mod culture which thrived in 1960s London. The new kit features a crisp white polo shirt complete with a button-down collar. This is trimmed with red and blue stripes and is fastened in the centre by two buttons, each inscribed with the phrase: ‘The Pride of London’.

The sleeves are also trimmed with red and blue, while the head-to-toe look is completed by white shorts and Chelsea blue socks, which feature a white, red, white stripe midway up the calf.

Meanwhile, inside the top, there’s another celebration of the Blues’ place at the heart of the capital in the shape of a ‘Pride of London’ graphic.

The new Chelsea away kit will be worn for the first time when we face Kawasaki Frontale in Japan this Friday.

Chelsea’s first game of the season is an away clash to Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 11.

Chelsea’s next pre-season fixture is against Japanese champions Kawasaki Frontale, and Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has revealed that this is exactly the sort of challenge we need as the preparations step up ahead of the new Premier League season.

“My manager said similar before me, we are looking forward to a good game on Friday,” said Kovacic.

“It is a pleasure to be here, we are pleased to be here in Japan and are looking forward to a good pre-season game.

“The manager said quite a lot and as I said before, its nice to play here in Japan in front of our fans, it’s going to be good to play against a great team who won their league last season. We are used to this type of opposition.

“We play against very good teams in the Premier League and Champions League each week, so we need a strong test.

“It’s normal for us to play a challenging match against a strong team and it will help us prepare well for the season ahead.”
