Chelsea have agreed a new long-term contract with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to Matt Law of Daily Telegraph.
Just as we reported earlier, Law has confirmed Frank Lampard will be officially announced by Chelsea on Wednesday and Lampard’s announcement should roughly coincide with Loftus-Cheek committing his future to the Blues.
Loftus-Cheek’s new five year deal will be worth £150,000 weekly, a stunning rise from the £60,000 a week contract he signed three years ago.
His old contract had two years left to run, but Chelsea were determined to secure Loftus-Cheek to a new agreement even though he is recovering from a serious injury.
Loftus-Cheek proved his worth to the Chelsea team last season after spending the previous season on loan at Crystal Palace and he finished his breakthrough season with 10 goals which was only beaten by Eden Hazard, Olivier Giroud and Pedro.
The report claims Frank Lampard will make Loftus-Cheek one of his key players in midfield once the 23-year-old returns to fitness.
Loftus-Cheek is currently injured after he ruptured his Achilles tendon in the friendly at the United States just before the Europa League final.
Chelsea are hoping to secure Callum Hudson-Odoi to a longterm deal at the club and Reece James could also be rewarded with a new deal after returning from his successful loan at Wigan Athletic.
