Eden Hazard has been the star of the Chelsea team for many years now, and the Blues hero left for a dream move to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
The biggest question that’s been posed to new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is whether he can achieve success with Chelsea without former star player Eden Hazard.
Hazard has carried Chelsea on his back for so long, and the Belgian single-handedly won a lot of games for the club.
Chelsea defender David Luiz has now admitted that Chelsea have lost a legend in Hazard, but believes that the club has players who can carry on.
The Brazilian told football.london: “I think we just lost a big, big name, a legend of the club in Eden Hazard, but we have many players who can do the job.”
Chelsea skipper Cesar Azpilicueta believes that the Blues can do without Hazard, insisting that top players have left the club in the past, and Chelsea were still successful.
“Since I came here, in every season we’ve had players leave – Lampard, John Terry, Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole, Petr Cech,” Azpilicueta said.
“At those moments, people couldn’t imagine a Chelsea side winning trophies without those quality players but we tried to keep the level high and every year we’ve had the chance to bring trophies to the Bridge.
“Eden is gone, we can only wish him the best but it was his choice and now we have to move on. We’re not going to win anything just thinking about the past. We have a great chance already in five weeks to win a European trophy again so we want to work hard and look forward to that.”
