Mason Mount was one of Chelsea’s best players in the 2-1 win against Barcelona in pre-season. Chelsea defeated Barca to win the Rakuten Cup on Tuesday, and the Blues put in a good display against the La Liga giants.
Mount lasted an hour on the pitch, and he outplayed the Barca midfield, fitting in well just behind the striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Sergio Busquets was in the middle of the park for Barcelona and captained the team, but Mount wasn’t bullied by the occasion and even beat the Spaniard a couple of times including one when he had to fall to the ground.
Speaking after the victory against Barca where Mount was one of the best performers, Lampard admitted that the youngster has announced himself.
Lampard said: “Mason’s had a great trip and he’s announced himself into the first team squad.”
