Chelsea winger Willian is back in London after he was given an extended holiday following Brazil’s Copa America success during the summer.
Willian is not fully fit after suffering an injury during the Copa America but he is expected to return to training in early August.
Just like Willian, Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi is also expected to return to training in early August as he finishes his recovery from an Achilles injury he suffered back in April.
Hudson-Odoi and Willian caught up with each other at Cobham following Willian’s return from Brazil and both players announced that they are feeling good ahead of the start of the new season.
Willian and Hudson-Odoi are yet to sign new contracts with their current contract expiring in the summer of 2020. The club are currently in talks with both players and Lampard recently gave an update.
“They’re both players I want in my squad,” Lampard said. “We’ve made good moves in pre-season. Mason Mount and [Ruben] Loftus-Cheek signed new contracts, that’s two good young players nailed down.
“We’re always trying to do that. From a football sense, I make my ideas clear and work very closely with [Chelsea director] Marina [Granovskaia] and the board and they’re two players we want to stay for sure.”
