Although not yet confirmed by Chelsea FC, it has been confirmed that Chelsea winger Willian has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club. The new deal will keep the Brazilian at the club until 2021.
Willian has just a year left on his Chelsea contract, and the Brazilian refused to extend his deal due to the fact that the club were only willing to offer him a year offer.
Back in March, Willian said: “I have one year left, but of course I want to play for this club. This club is very special to me. I won titles here, I have the affection from the fans and from the people that work in the club.
“I feel comfortable to stay. I am happy when I play well and score goals. I can give a different light.”
Chelsea have a transfer policy of only giving one-year deals to players over 30, but due to the transfer ban, Chelsea have slacked on that policy and David Luiz was given a two-year deal in May.
Also Willian might be the one to take over Eden Hazard’s No. 10 shirt next season.
According to Willian, Chelsea offered him the No.10 shirt following Hazard’s exit to Real Madrid and he has accepted to make the switch from No.22 to No.10.
In an interview with Desimpedidos YouTube channel, Willian confirmed it by saying in Portuguese: “Now the no.10 is mine! The club told me it is mine”.
