Chelsea young right-back Reece James is highly rated at the club after a successful loan spell at Wigan in the Championship last season.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard let Davide Zappacosta leave Chelsea for Roma this week because he intends to use James as backup at right-back this season.
Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has tipped James to be a huge hit at Chelsea.
Azpilicueta said, according to The Sun: “I am here to help everybody and he is an amazing kid. He has a very good mentality.
“No one has any doubts about his talent on the pitch and hopefully he can be a very important player.
“When he [first] came [to train with the senior side] he was already used to the way we play.
“After he arrived, I was playing as a centre-back so he was training next to me.
“It was easy for me to get close to him and help him with the movements and to get used to the way we play. The movements that the manager asks us to play.”
James recently revealed his dream is to become a first team player at Chelsea.
James said: “Frank Lampard is a club legend; he’s someone I’ve always looked up to. If a manager believes in youth and believes in you then, eventually, you know the chance will come.
“Ever since I’ve been at Chelsea, my dream has been to become a first-team player.
“This is the team I support,” he says. “This has always been my dream: to make my debut for Chelsea. The dream I had when I first played for the club as a youngster. I’m more motivated than I’ve ever been…and I’d like to think I never take a step back.”
