According to The Sun, Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta is keen on leaving Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.
The Italian right-back has played a bit-part role for the Blues since signing from Torino in 2017 and he believes his chances will be limited even further this season due to the emergence of 19 year old Chelsea academy graduate Reece James.
Zappacosta made just one Premier League start last season under Maurizio Sarri but featured more in Chelsea’s Europa League success.
James is currently injured and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard reportedly wants Zappacosta to remain at the club to give cover for Cesar Azpilicueta until James is clear of injury.
Zappacosta was left out of Chelsea’s final preseason draw with Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday and according to The Sun, Serie A club Roma are interested in signing the 27 year old.
Chelsea signed Zappacosta from Torino in 2017 for £27.6m but the Blues are likely to make a loss on the 27 year old, with a recent offer from Lazio – who have since dropped their interest – only reaching £13.5m.
