The Blues were drawn against Ajax, Valencia and Lille in Group H of the Champions League.
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen expects Chelsea to go through to the knockout stage.
According to Owen, Chelsea are good at qualifying out of the group stage.
Owen said: “Chelsea are good at qualifying out of the group stage. Frank Lampard will be delighted to have the Champions League in his first big, big job.
“They’ve got some really good players. Of course, Hazard leaving is going to hurt them, especially at the latter stages at this level.
“But Tottenham showed last season you don’t have to be the absolute favourites, Ajax showed last season you don’t have to be the favourites to actually have a great competition.
“I think Frank Lampard will be really looking forward to pitting his wits against the big boys.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is excited to be back in the Champions League with Chelsea.
Lampard said: “I had some great nights in it, great moments and great memories. Talking about the players, they want to play in it and show what we are about. It is nice that we are there. It means that we need to keep our league performances up now to be there next year and tackle it head on.
“It is the greatest club competition in football and I was lucky enough to win it once. I’m looking forward to working in it as a manager.”
