Crystal Palace on Monday completed the signing of former Chelsea captain Gary Cahill on a free transfer.
Cahill left Chelsea at the end of June after the expiration of his contract and the 33-year-old has now joined Crystal Palace on a two year deal.
According to Daily Mail, Cahill will earn £75,000 a week at Crystal Palace.
Following the completion of his deal, Chelsea FC have wished Cahill well ahead of the new season. Cahill was a brutal defender during his time with Chelsea, and the Blues official Twitter handle has told Palace fans what to expect from the veteran defender.
With a photo of Cahill bravely heading a ball against Wilfried Zaha’s boots, the caption reads: “What you get when you sign @GaryJCahill. 💪
“Best of luck at Crystal Palace, Gary. 👊💙”
After completing his move to Crystal Palace, Cahill told Crystal Palace official website: “I’m glad to be here, I think it’s a good opportunity for me to continue my career in the Premier League, and to play in a good, exciting team. There are some very exciting, talented players here. I’m looking forward to the challenge.
“I’m hungry to prolong my career as long as I possibly can – I feel like I’m in great shape and whoever I play for, I’d like to think that I give it 110% and leave everything out there – so hopefully that will be good enough for the manager, my team-mates and also the fans.”
