Brazilian international Willian will wear the No.10 shirt for Chelsea this season following the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
Following his unveiling as Chelsea’s new No.10 on the club’s official website, Willian sent a message to Chelsea fans that he would try to match the impact Eden Hazard had at Chelsea as the previous No.10.
“It’s a pleasure to wear this shirt and this number,” Willian said. “So many great players wore it. For me the best ever to wear it was Pele.
“We had Eden here who played in this shirt. He was fantastic, now the responsibility is mine!”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has revealed Willian is in contention to feature in the weekend’s game against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge.
Asked about the fitness of Willian and Antonio Rudiger, Lampard said: “Rudiger is training. Whether he is completely match fit is another thing. A bit of condition.
“Same thing as Willian, Willian is probably closer. They are both in contention for the weekend.”
