According to The Sun, Premier League side Everton are interested in signing Chelsea defender David Luiz.
The report claims a move for Luiz was discussed by Chelsea and Everton during talks over Fikayo Tomori heading to Goodison Park on a season-long loan.
Everton boss Marco Silva is keen on signing a centre-back this summer after Kurt Zouma returned to Chelsea after spending last season on loan at Everton.
Everton see Luiz as a player that will help strengthen their defence as they seek to put pressure on the top six and try to break in to that group this season
Luiz was an important player for the Blues last season under Maurizio Sarri and he recently signed a two year deal to extend his stay at the club.
The Sun claim Chelsea’s transfer ban means Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will be reluctant to lose Luiz, one of the senior players in the squad.
With days left to end of the English transfer window, time will tell if Everton can prise Luiz away from Chelsea or are forced to settle for young Chelsea defender Tomori on season-long loan deal, or perhaps even switch their focus elsewhere.
