Serie A side Napoli have been offered the chance to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, according to Standard Sport but they are reportedly leaning towards a deal for former Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente.
Batshuayi has failed to make any of Chelsea’s Premier League matchday squads this season and according to Standard Sport, Napoli had previously contacted Chelsea over a loan move for Batshuayi before they switched interest to Llorente.
Napoli favour a move for Llorente because a deal for the 34 year old striker is cheaper given the absence of a loan fee and lower wage demands.
Batshuayi joined Chelsea for £33million in 2016 but has since had spells at Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace. Chelsea boss Frank Lampard currently favours Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud to the Belgian striker.
Lampard is reportedly happy to let Batshuayi leave the club on loan after previously insisting the striker will stay at Stamford Bridge this season.
Lampard said: “The future is Michy is here as one of our strikers. We have three strikers this year and there will be opportunities for him.
“With Michy it’s important that he trains at a top, top level every day, gets himself absolutely fit to play the way I want my strikers to play, which will be constant movement – on and off the ball – and obviously to try and score goals.
“He’s very much our player and competing with Tammy and Ollie for that space.”
