Young Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has signed a new contract and has left the club on loan. Trevoh has signed a new deal that will keep at the club until 2022.
Chalobah has now joined Huddersfield Town on loan for the 2019/20 season.
Trevoh, the younger brother of Nathaniel Chalobah joined Chelsea as an Under-9, following in the footsteps of his older brother. He won the UEFA Youth League in 2016, as well as back-to-back FA Youth Cups, while on the international stage he lifted the European Championship trophy with England Under-19s in 2017.
Trevoh has made the first team bench a couple of times, including the FA Cup final against Manchester United in 2018.
The 20-year-old impressed at Ipswich Town last term, and has proven he has the credentials to force his way into Lampard’s thinking in the future.
He is one of several academy produced players who returned from their loan stints away from the club and were given the chance to play in Frank Lampard’s opening games as Chelsea manager during our time in Ireland.
A loan deal is his best bet for his development at the moment, and upon signing for Huddersfield on loan, he posted on Twitter: “Can’t wait for the new season. Happy to be joining @htafc on loan for the season, I will give my last breath too see this fantastic club get back to the premier league! #htafc.”
The Terriers are aiming for an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation last season. They kicked off the campaign with a 2-1 home defeat to Derby County.
