Chelsea defender David Luiz has now completed a transfer deadline day move to Arsenal for a fee of £8m.
The Brazilian has been a Chelsea player for seven seasons across two separate spells, a period in which he won six major honours.
Luiz first became a Chelsea player in January 2011, joining from Benfica on transfer deadline day.
Luiz left Chelsea for Paris Saint-Germain in 2014, and after two years in the French capital, during which time he won five domestic honours, he returned to Stamford Bridge in another deadline-day move in August 2016 under former boss Antonio Conte.
Luiz was a key part of Conte’s 3-4-3 formation as Chelsea stunned the Premier League to become champions.
He went on to feature prominently for Maurizio Sarri last season, but according to reports, new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard couldn’t assure him of his place next season.
David will wear the number 23 shirt.
Unai Emery said of the deal: “David has huge experience and I look forward to working with him again. He is a well known player and adds to our defensive strength.”
Luiz was a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge, and the club has wished him well ahead of his career with the Gunners.
Chelsea said in a statement: “We thank David for his service and wish him well in his future career.”
