Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater is set for a loan exit from Chelsea and has completed a medical at Burnley ahead of a loan move to Turf Moor.
The Englishman has now completed a loan move to the Clarets until January.
Drinkwater joined Chelsea in a £35m deal from Leicester City in 2017 under former boss Antonio Conte. However, he was frozen out by Maurizio Sarri the following season and played just once last term, which was the Community Shield game against Manchester City.
The 29-year-old is currently in Lancashire and is expected to complete a season-long loan move to the Clarets.
It isn’t just Drinkwater who’s set for an exit, as Chelsea defender David Luiz is also set to leave the club to join local rivals Arsenal in an £8m deal.
The Brazilian only recently signed a two-year contract extension, but is now keen to leave before the transfer window closes in a sudden twist that has left Chelsea fans surprised.
L’Equipe claims that the Chelsea defender refused to train with Chelsea’s first-team as he looks to push through a move to Arsenal before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The agent of Arsenal’s summer signing Nicolas Pepe has backed Luiz to dump Chelsea for Arsenal.
The Ivorian’s agent, Samir Khiat, has backed the Gunners’ move for Luiz, insisting that the Brazilian is a natural leader who will be a good fit at Arsenal.
“He is not just a defender, but a natural leader,” said Khiat.
“A beacon in a dressing room. It would be a good fit.”
