According to The Telegraph, at least eight Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace and Brighton, have shown interest in signing young Chelsea defender Reece James.
Chelsea have reportedly rejected the approaches of these Premier League clubs for James, according to the report.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen to keep the young right-back at the club as competition for first-choice right back Cesar Azpilicueta.
Lampard is willing to let Davide Zappacosta leave the club and according to reports, Italian side Roma are interested in signing Zappacosta.
James is recovering from an ankle injury and he is expected to be back by the end of the month. Barring any setbacks in the recovery of James, Zappacosta is expected to be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge.
James impressed on loan at Wigan, winning all the club’s awards, and Lampard believes it will be more beneficial to keep him at Stamford Bridge and offer him the incentive of first-team football, rather than sending the youngster back out on loan.
Daily Star also claim James is expected to be offered a new contract when back to fitness, following in the footsteps of winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and forward Tammy Abraham.
