England boss Gareth Southgate opted against including Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham in his 25-man squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Abraham has featured in all four of Chelsea’s games so far and he has started two of our three Premier League games.

Abraham also scored his first two goals for the Blues first team last weekend to help Chelsea beat Norwich away 3-2.

Despite not earning an England call-up, Southgate insists Abraham remains in consideration.

“Tammy is one of a number of players who have either started the season well or we know well from our junior teams. This squad can look different over the next months,” Southgate said.

Southgate also gave his thoughts on the recent incident of racial abuse on Abraham after his penalty miss against Liverpool in the Super Cup.

“The issue isn’t social media, the issue is the society’s need to educate people. We could highlight the social media companies. There could be increased controls. The issue is the mindset of people with racist values,” he added.
