Ahead of Frank Lampard’s first game as Chelsea boss at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood claims Leicester City will beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard is looking for his first win as Chelsea boss after losing 4-0 at Old Trafford to Manchester United and losing on penalties to Liverpool in the Super Cup on Wednesday.
According to Sherwood, Chelsea’s defensive partnership of Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen isn’t good enough and he expects Chelsea’s defence to struggle against Leicester City.
Sherwood told the Kelly and Wrighty Show via Metro: “Now this is a tough game, this is a tricky game. Tricky for a couple of reasons, because everyone expects them to win. The euphoria of Frank going back to Chelsea, his first game in charge back there [at Stamford Bridge].
“Leicester are a very, very difficult side, but the expectancy is still there with the Chelsea fans to roll them over and beat them. I think Leicester will win this football match, I really do. I’m not sure Chelsea’s defence are good enough at the moment.
“Rudiger needs to be back as soon as possible, Kurt Zouma’s not been good enough – in my eyes, he’s not good enough anyway, he’s never been good enough under anyone else’s eyes, I’m not sure he’s good enough under Frank Lampard’s eyes at the moment.
“And Christensen alongside him, that defensive partnership is crucial to any team, especially when you’re a big side and you’re expected to win football matches, and I don’t think that is strong enough at the moment.”
