N’Golo Kante is yet to play a pre-season game this summer as he is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered before Chelsea’s Europa League final victory over Arsenal.
Kante left the tour of Japan early for London so he can receive treatment for his injury after suffering a setback while in Japan.
Kante is part of the Chelsea squad which has landed in Germany for Chelsea’s final pre-season game of the summer against Borussia Monchengladbach on August 3.
Frank Lampard gave an update on the France international’s fitness last weekend, stating:
“The signs are good. It was certainly the right decision for him to come home early from Japan and get the treatment he had.
“He’s dipped into training with us over the last couple of days and I expect him to be training through this week to the point that he can be fully involved at the start of next week. There’s a lot more he needs to do physically without us but we’re hopeful.”
Kante will be hoping to try and cement a place in Lampard’s team, with Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho already cementing the double pivot role in midfield.
Kante has been a key player for Chelsea since signing in 2016, and the Frenchman has shone in the past 3 seasons for the Blues.
