N’Golo Kante had been hailed as the best defensive midfielder in the world the past few years, but Sarri brought a new dimension to his game when he decided to pusher him higher up.
A lot has been said about N’Golo Kante’s best position since Maurizio Sarri decided to use the Frenchman in a more offensive midfield role, and Kante himself has now revealed that he loves the role rather than being a sitting midfielder.
“I like to play in this position, this is where I played last year,” Kante told Goal.
“The coach asked me to play in this positon, I like to do it.
“I know what to do with my teammates and we played a good game tonight.”
Lampard decided against using Kante as a defensive midfielder and has rather turned him to a box to box midfielder, and the 28-year-old impressed massively in that game.
Lampard revealed after the Liverpool clash that Kante has both attributes that can help him defend and attack.
Lampard said: “The idea he wins the ball as well as anyone in world football doesn’t mean he has to sit in front of the back four. He has too much in his game: driving forward with the ball, leaving midfield areas and winning the ball back high up the pitch.”
