Reports emerged today that Chelsea defender David Luiz refused to train with the Blues in order to push through a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal.
It is believed Luiz is in advanced talks with the Gunners as they look for a replacement for Laurent Koscielny, who left the club for Bordeaux.
According to Daily Express, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is open to the idea of David Luiz leaving Stamford Bridge for Arsenal before the transfer window ends on Thursday night.
The report even claims Lampard won’t consider Luiz for selection for Chelsea’s opening game against Manchester United on Sunday even if Luiz’s move to Arsenal fails to materialise.
Luiz has spoken positively about Lampard since he replaced Maurizio Sarri at the club but Daily Express claim there has been a number of issues surrounding the centre-back behind the scenes.
Kurt Zouma partnered Andreas Christensen in Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach and it is believed that is the partnership Lampard will most likely choose against Manchester United.
Luiz was an important player for Chelsea last season under Sarri, making 50 appearances in all competitions for the Blues to help the club to a third place finish and Europa League success.
