A lot has been said about Chelsea’s January signing Christian Pulisic. The 20-year-old has been in camp with the Chelsea players for pre-season for about two weeks now, but the Blues fans had been yet to see what he can actually do.

However, Pulisic was on fire as Chelsea defeated RB Salzburg 5-3. The American who has been nicknamed Captain America scored a brace against the Austrian side, and the nature of the goals were beyond ordinary.

For both goals, Pulisic showed good awareness to get behind the team’s defence, and he used his pace and calm finish to put the ball into the net.

A lot is expected from Pulisic ahead of next season, and Blues boss Frank Lampard hailed his performance on Wednesday night. Lampard also told him to replicate the same on a consistent basis when the new season starts, both in the Premier League and Champions League.

Lampard told reporters after the game: “He [Pulisic] showed his quality and I love the nature of his goals where he has an intention to run behind the line and not come short, and the finishing was good.

“It is what he is going to have to do because he is going to play in the Premier League and the Champions League, this is the top end. A winger has to have the desire not just to be tidy but to be getting in behind people and then with his quality he can be a really big player for us.

“He is a big signing for us with big potential but the big question is he has to adapt to a different league, but I have seen already a really good attitude and a willingness to listen to information. He is 20 years of age so we have to remember he is young. I am happy to work with him, I want him to improve him.”

Pulisic is seen as many as the one to replace Hazard, but the American has taken the pressure off his shoulder and rather revealed that he’d prefer to make his own name and be his own player.
