Jorginho is set to play an important role in Frank Lampard’s team this season, as the Italian has started all of Chelsea’s games so far this term.

The 27-year-old joined Chelsea last summer from Napoli as Maurizio Sarri came alongside him from the Serie A side.

Jorginho was a key part of Sarri-ball in Sarri’s 4-3-3 system as he sat at the base of midfield dictating play. Chelsea fans didn’t warm up to the Italian last season, but are beginning to do so this season, as his game has improved tremendously and has adapted to the Premier League.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has revealed that Jorginho is a quality player and that he’s fortunate to have the Italian in his squad.

“What I see in Jorginho is a quality of pass and I want to see him use his range,” the Chelsea manager told Sky Sports.

“He played some great through-balls against Liverpool and I know he can do it. He can do what’s asked of him and he is eager to do it. ‘I love his spirit, how he trains and how he plays. I keep going on about that but it’s infectious and it’s important

Lampard added: “I watched him last year and I thought he finished the season really well but you only really know a player when you see them day in and day out.

“From the first day of training he showed me instantly his quality and his attitude.

“I am actually fortunate to have Jorginho.”
