Chelsea lost 4-0 to Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford, a heavy defeat that didn’t really reflect how good Chelsea were against Manchester United.

The Blues created more chances against Manchester United, hit the post twice, dominated possession but still conceded four goals without scoring any.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted he’s learnt lessons from the loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

According to Lampard, the Blues need to be much better in not committing errors that bring chances.

Lampard said: “In terms of the defeat you always learn. More than the first 25 minutes, 45 60 minutes we controlled.

“The clear lesson is that if you make defensive mistakes against good teams it will cost you.

“They did so many good things in the game. There were lots of good things and that we can improve on them. We need to be much better in not committing errors that bring chances.”

Despite the heavy loss to Manchester United on Sunday, Lampard insists he’s optimistic ahead of our Super Cup clash against Liverpool on Wednesday. Lampard insists he believes in his players despite the heavy loss to Manchester United.

Lampard added: “I am optimistic because I believe in the players, I am very proud to be here. I believe in my players.”
