It was a thrilling contest between Chelsea and Liverpool as the Blues lost the Super Cup final clash only in penalties.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, and by the end of extra time, it ended 2-2. Chelsea lost the game 5-4 on penalties, and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard must be pleased with his side.

Kepa: Couldn’t be blamed for both goals and pulled off an extraordinary double save in the second half to deny Liverpool. Had a good game. 7/10

Azpilicueta: Had a solid game as a right back and went forward when he needed to. 7/10

Zouma: Was defensively solid but looked shaky when trying to pass the ball out from the back. 7/10

Christensen: Calm and composed on the ball before being taken off due to what seemed like a hamstring strain. 6/10

Emerson: Kept bursting down the left flank all through the game, and was a beast on the flanks until he eventually got worn out with a hamstring injury late in the game. 7/10

Jorginho: Had a good game. Worked hard in midfield and his long range passing kept destabilising the Liverpool defence. 7.5/10

Kante: Was a workaholic. Kept running, kept winning balls, never got tired and he was absolutely brilliant going forward. Has improved a lot when with the ball. 8/10

Kovacic: Combined well with the midfielders and had good drive when on the ball. 7/10

Pedro: Was excellent today and was unfortunate to not have scored a goal as he hit the bar in the first half. 7.5/10

Pulisic: Got his first Chelsea start and he looked impressive. Was sleek on the ball and made some dangerous forward runs that kept threatening Liverpool’s defence. 7/10

Giroud: Scored Chelsea’s first goal with a sublime finish. The Frenchman was outstanding in the first half, but got fatigued later in the second period. 7/10

Abraham: Came on for Giroud in the 74th minute who looked tired. Worked his socks and won the penalty for our equalising goal but missed his final spot kick during the shootout. 6/10

Mount: Brought life and energy to our attack after replacing Pulisic in the 74th minute. 6/10

Tomori: Came on for Christensen in the 85th minute, and showed his defensive qualities within that short timeframe. Extremely comfortable on the ball and possesses great speed. 6/10

Barkley: Came on for Kovacic in extra time and he had a good game. 6/10

Chelsea is more than just a football club to me; it's a passion I share, and my affinity with the Chelsea badge is one that will last forever. As far as watching my favourite team is concerned, I'd rather miss a meal than miss a Chelsea game.
