Real Madrid signed Eden Hazard from Chelsea this summer and the Spanish club are reportedly eyeing a move for another Chelsea player.
According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Real Madrid are targeting a move for Chelsea No 2 goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas reportedly wants to leave the club before the end of the European transfer window as he doesn’t want to be play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois this season.
He has reportedly handed a transfer request and is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane wants to replace Navas with Chelsea’s Caballero. Zidane reportedly views Caballero as a veteran safe pair of hands and he has plenty of experience in Spain.
Caballero played for Elche and the Malaga for a combined total of nine seasons so would feel instantly comfortable in La Liga.
With Chelsea unable to sign a replacement after the English transfer window closed before the start of the season, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will be reluctant to let Caballero leave the club for Real Madrid.
Zidane’s first choice to replace Navas is Caballero but he would reportedly move for Pepe Reina, Diego Benaglio or Maarten Stekelenburg if he is unable to sign Caballero.
