Turkish club Galatasaray have opened talks with Chelsea over signing midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan this season, reports claim.
Bakayoko struggled to impress in his first season at Stamford Bridge after joining from Monaco for £40m and spent last season on loan at AC Milan, with the Italian club having an option to sign him on a permanent deal for £32m.
Despite impressing on loan at AC Milan, the Italian club opted against signing the midfielder on a permanent deal, and Blues boss Frank Lampard isn’t too keen on the Frenchman.
Galatasaray want to sign Bakayoko but according to Goal, the Turkish side are not able to pay the Frenchman’s £120,000-a-week wage and will need Chelsea to pay part of his wages for the deal to happen.
Frank Lampard has not been impressed with the midfielder during the pre-season and the club will be listening to any offers for Bakayoko, either on loan or outright sale.
Bakayoko missed Chelsea’s last two pre-season games, and Lampard admitted that he can’t play everybody.
Speaking about his absence, the Blues boss said: “We have a squad with a lot of players and getting to this point now, I can’t bring everyone and give everyone 90 minutes so there are players who have stayed back to train rather than travel and not play.
“So I would not read too much into it in one game, we are a work in progress with this squad.”
