Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is a huge fan of 19 year old Chelsea right-back Reece James and according to The Sun, Lampard is hoping to use the international break to fast-track James into the first team.

Mason Mount, Andreas Christensen and Tammy Abraham have all forced their way into Chelsea’s first-team plans and Lampard wants James to be the next Chelsea academy graduate to push into the first team.

With the Blues unable to sign players, Lampard is giving youth a chance this season.

James is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea because he’s recovering from an ankle injury.

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta tipped James for big things at Chelsea.

Azpilicueta said: “I am here to help everybody and he is an amazing kid. He has a very good mentality.

“No one has any doubts about his talent on the pitch and hopefully he can be a very important player.

“When he [first] came [to train with the senior side] he was already used to the way we play.

“After he arrived, I was playing as a centre-back so he was training next to me.

“It was easy for me to get close to him and help him with the movements and to get used to the way we play. The movements that the manager asks us to play.”
