Chelsea players have been warned that Frank Lampard is ruthless and would drop any player from the first team if they don’t work hard in training.
According to a Derby source, Lampard demands 100 per cent from his players behind the scenes before giving them a chance on the pitch.
The Derby source told The Athletic via The Sun: “He [Lampard] would simply refuse to play anyone who trained badly.
“We saw players who would be in the team and playing well but then they had a bad week in training and he would drop them.
“Expect the same at Chelsea. We thought it was because of his own approach as a player, everyone knows how dedicated he was, the fittest man ever, grabbing balls after training to improve.”
The likes of Michy Batshuayi, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Davide Zappacosta are yet to feature under Super Frank. They could get their chance under Lampard if they work hard on training.
Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger stepped up his return to match fitness with 90 minutes for our development squad on Monday evening at Stamford Bridge. Batshuayi also featured in the game and scored a brace against Liverpool U23.
