According to Standard Sport, Turkish club Galatasaray have opened talks with Chelsea over signing midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan this season.
Bakayoko struggled to impress in his first season at Stamford Bridge after joining from Monaco for £40m and spent last season on loan at AC Milan, with the Italian club having an option to sign him on a permanent deal for £32m.
Despite impressing on loan at AC Milan, the Italian club opted against signing the midfielder on a permanent deal because they failed to qualify for the Champions League and couldn’t spend so much of their budget on just one player.
Bakayoko reported for preseason at Chelsea and hoped to impress new boss Frank Lampard but it seems he hasn’t done that after he was left out of Chelsea’s last two friendlies against Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Monchengladbach, working back at the club’s base in Cobham instead.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in sending Bakayoko out on loan or on a permanent deal with the club having more than the permitted 17 non-homegrown players in the ‘A list’ squad for the Champions League.
Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta is also reportedly pushing to leave Chelsea this summer after two years at the club.
