England boss Gareth Southgate has rewarded Mason Mount for his fine start to the season by naming the 20 year old in the latest England squad ahead of a pair of Euro 2020 qualifying matches.
Mount has scored in Chelsea’s last two games, against Leicester City and Norwich City and has started all three Chelsea’s Premier League games this season.
It is the second time he has been named in a senior England squad, having been an unused sub in UEFA Nations League games against Croatia and Spain last October. He also trained with Gareth Southgate’s side in the build-up to the 2018 World Cup.
Mount will be hoping to make his debut in England’s forthcoming European Championship qualifying matches at home to Bulgaria and Kosovo.
Ross Barkley was also named in England’s 23-man squad. Barkley will be hoping to add to his 29 caps.
England are top of Group A after two matches, having thrashed Czech Republic at home and Montenegro away back in March.
